Generation memes

I have recently been encountering meetings with successful people and these people tend to have one thing in common... They don't have social media accounts. When I have been speaking to them it was evident that helped them get where they want to be in life, but it also made it apparent how much this generation works against itself. Social media can be a powerful tool if used correctly but we are the generation of memes. Instead of using social media to learn about the world we instead spend most of our times tagging eachother in memes, imagine in the time we spend scrolling through and tagging our friends in such things how much we could have achieved.

Dating sites such as tinder have become so popular because business people are recognising that people would rather interact through social sites than meet people through social events or just by approaching them in real life. We are the digital age, but instead of using it for good we are manifesting our minds with useless information, some people I have met cannot tell me the capital of Germany but can quickly name different memes to suit the situation. People will have hopes and dreams of travelling, changing the world etc but would rather sit and look at pictures of those things than taking action to make those things a reality.

Imagine standing next to the CEO if your dream company but you didn't have the chance to speak to them because you were staring at your phone. Opportunities will come and go but knowing how to maximise your opportunities will make you stand out.

My message here is that we are all guilty of using social media in a negative way but try to reduce the time you spend on it. I myself have limited my social media time and I have seen so many benefits from it. Remember knowledge is power but it is more powerful when it's applied but we cannot do this if we are not giving ourselves the opportunity to because we are laughing at memes.
